Weekend Riding

2 Feb

Apparently I’m not awesome enough to be able to embed videos in my blog….but go here to see some CUTE attempts of Baby Soup trying to play the Penny Whistle.  She’s pretty flippin good too!

Playing the Whistle, part 1.

Playing the Whistler, part 2.

One of the several naps Baby Soup took.  Her buddy Darius crawled up to take a nap with her.

Best Friends

Saturday we were blessed with BEAUTIFUL weather and I was so glad to get on the back of Pablo again.  We visited the neighbors, a herd of miniature horses.

Minis

Anything is cuter if it is in mini size!

Mini Kisses

Kisses.

My friend’s land is right next to acres and acres of logging forests.  So many trails made by deer, tractors and cars makes for heavenly rides.  Especially when you exit out of a small trail filled with trees, ferns and bushes in to an open space like this:

A Ride With A View

Gorgeous!

The beautiful Brioso del Ray.  Paso Fino with STYLE.  Even if he is out of shape…the poor guy gets lathered no matter what he does.

Beautiful (and Sweaty) Brioso

After two weeks off, it was good to get him under the saddle again.  Even if we put the wrong (smaller) saddle on him.  Ooops!

So much fun though…..

Is it Friday yet?

I Am.

4 Jan

I am me.  In addition, I am a wife, daughter, sister and mother.  But first and foremost, I am me.

Taking a page from the lovely and talented Aunt Becky, I am going to make this the year of me.

First step to that goal?  A standing date between myself and a lovely lady from Craigslist for horseback riding.  This poor lady was in a car accident a few years ago and after multiple surgeries, has major nerve damage in one of her hands.  This left her unable to groom and tack up her three Paso Fino horses.  I am glad to do so in exchange for riding.  It’s a win-win situation.  Especially considering how well we got along on Saturday.  We just clicked.  For the entire 3.5 hours I was there, we talked about all sorts of things.  From her horses and goats and dogs to books (she is a voracious reader like me) to Roman history.  It was meant to be.

So now I have a day for me doing something I truly enjoy.

In addition, my computer will hopefully be fixed this evening and allow me to work on photos again.  It’s been so incredibly slow for weeks and then finally just decided it didn’t want to do anything anymore.  Here’s hoping it will be fixed, as we cannot afford to get me a new one.

Other than that, I will not feel guilt for finding me.

I am me.

I am.

Me.

Deep in the Eyes

I knew I just had to enter this photo into this weeks I ❤ Faces contest.  It’s a pet of sorts, and yes it has a baby leg, but the face….he is so full of emotion.  I adore this photo!

Introduce my daughter.  Fearless.

Deep in the Eyes

Eddie, take good care of her.

Keep My Baby Safe

I know you will be good.  Maybe we can convince Mr. Soup someday soon to get one just like you in the near future.

Mommy and Baby...

I hope so!

BTW, still sore 3 days later.  English riding is so different than Western!
