Wordless Wednesday – Bath Time

6 Apr

This is what our baths usually consist of.  She takes a washcloth, puts it in the water and squeezes the water out of it. She also cleans the walls.  She’s her Grammy’s granddaughter for sure and loves cleaning!

This bath was special. She got to pick out a prize at the pharmacy for being such a good girl while we waited an extra long time. The prize she picked was a dinosaur egg shaped bath bomb – I think she thought it was a Cadbury Cream egg, but either way, that’s what she wanted. It turned the water green and fizzed and bubbbled while it disintegrated. Totally fun!

And in the inside, there was a little dinosaur. Which, to begin with, she thought was fun. Until she got distracted by playing with the water and it floated around for a bit and then she saw it out of the corner of her eye.

Then, she didn’t like it anymore and mommy saved the day.

It’s nice being a hero.

We have clean water.

Thank goodness.

You never realize how much you rely on clean water until you don’t have it anymore.  When our landlords fixed the pipes earlier in the week, he stirred up the mud and it got mixed into the three filters and caused the issues.  All fixed and more importantly, we know where the filters are now just in case it happens again.

It also helped hit home the fact that there are people out there that deal with this all the time.  Muddy water is the norm for them.  In order to drink it, they have to boil it.

There are so many charities out there that work to make this a thing of the past.

Charity: Water, Just a DropWater Charity and WaterAid are just a few you find if you do a quick Google search.

We donated this weekend to Just a Drop and WaterAid.

Because no one should have to drink dirty water.

Please note: this is not a sponsored post or made to make anyone feel guilty.  No one knows who I am.  But I wanted to share, because it has affected me personally.

I mentioned earlier how refreshing this past weekend was.  I felt recharged and ready to go!

Then yesterday happened.

Nothing huge.  Just a bunch of little things eating into the day.

Like the sodas for the lunches I had to pick up that decided they wanted to be spilled all over the backseat of my car.

And the reading wrong of a post of a dear friend that I wish I could go back and edit.

And the stupid people calling on the phone that piss me off.

And a baby that decided sleeping for longer than 20 minutes was for the weak.

But the topper?  The great grand-daddy of the straw that broke the camel’s back?

Let me start off by describing the makeup of where we live.

We are down in a valley in the country.  Here are some photos from before we moved.

Needless to say, we don’t get high-speed internet.  We barely get phone service.  Our trash has to be driven about a mile in order to be picked up.

We LOVE it though.  So peaceful and tranquil and wonderful.

Our water comes from a mountain fed spring.  Seriously.  We take showers in water that people pay lots of money to be placed into plastic bottles and drink.

It tastes wonderful.

But last night?  Not so much.

Our older toilet runs sometimes and my dear husband still hasn’t QUITE gotten the hang of the jiggle of the handle.  I lifted the tank lid and fixed it and discovered something rather gross.

The water was brown.

Like, mud brown.

Looked in the bowl of the toilet and there was a huge ring of sediment.  Gross.

Checked the sink faucet.  Same thing.  The shower?  After a little bit it turned brown too.

Which means I couldn’t brush my teeth or take my medication.  And this morning?  I forgot to bring it with me.  Oh, and I also couldn’t shower this morning.

So my husband is with the baby at my brother’s house while he tries to contact our landlord.  Because they are camping until Saturday.

Is it Friday yet?
