Ahhh, the faces animals can make. Especially baby animals when exploring their zoo areas.

Saturday was the first day that it hit me how soon Christmas was. Mr. Soup and I went to a holiday tradition of our friend Bill’s. He takes all his friends out to dinner instead of getting individual presents. We missed last year because I was 8.5 months pregnant, we had 3 inches of snow and ice on top and just couldn’t make it. This year, we were very happy to be able to go.
A night without baby and getting to enjoy adult conversation and really good food? Priceless.
I was so busy stuffing my face with some AMAZING sushi, that I didn’t get any pictures. I know, I’m a loser. But I did get a photo of the beautiful fresh fruit plate for dessert:
While hubby and I were enjoying this amazing meal, Baby Soup got to go out too! She went with Grammy and Grammy’s boyfriend to the Oregon Zoo to see the Zoo Lights!
It was the perfect evening, not too cold and not raining. Grammy had never gone and obviously neither had my daughter. Everyone had a blast!
So, has it hit you yet that Christmas is almost here? Do you have your Christmas or Hanukkah shopping/wrapping done? Do you have a tradition that just SEALS the holidays into your mind?
A few weeks ago, my sister-in-law came into town from Indiana and we went to the Oregon Zoo and the Japanese Garden. I took this as an opportunity to steal my dad’s pretty Nikon D60 and play around with it. Mr. Soup took our point-and-shoot Nikon and got some shots of the Japanese Garden while I carried baby (WAY too hilly and full of steps for a stroller) and then I got free to take photos at the zoo (my favorite anyways).
I thought I would share some of them with you, as they were fun to take and I like to share them as well! Warning – there are a lot of them! Photos from the Japanese Garden to come tomorrow!
One of my favorite photos of my husband and his mom
Bald Eagle
My sister-in-law and an amusing zoo sign
Scary looking croc
I forget what kind of boar these were, but I *love* their hairdos. And yes, they are really that color
The baby elephant saying "hi!"
The cutest looking pair in the zoo
Tiger
The meerkat totally was posing for me
Tommy's are one of my favorites...I loved watching them while working at Disney
Giraffe's are totally aliens
A tern from the penguin enclosure
It was apparently cleaning time after the lunch in the penguin enclosure. All the penguins were preening
This little girl was SO excited to see the zebras. I was glad when her dad gave me permission to take her photo!
