Love, Redux

I’m going to be cheating a bit today.  This is a redo from one of the first posts I wrote.  It is just as true today as it was back in March.  On this dreary weather Friday, I thought it would be nice to remind everyone to say “I love you”.

——————————————–

The other day I read an article about how to keep your marriage alive after having a baby. One of the recommendations was to make sure to say “I love you” at least once a day, this got me thinking. Mr. Soup and I say “I love you” at least 10 times a day. Sometimes it’s said laughingly after one of us does something stupid (usually me). Sometimes it’s said wistfully over the phone when making a call during my lunch break. And sometimes it’s used as an excuse for when we make eye contact randomly. Even when we are somewhere we can’t speak, we can still say it. When holding hands or touching somehow, three taps means “I love you”, then four taps from the next person to say “I love you too”. Another three for “forever” and then a last three for “and always”. I can’t wait to be able to do it with my daughter as well.

Our relationship has always needed important communication for saying “I love you”. When we were first dating, we lived far from each other. We also hadn’t seen each others since we started dating. So we didn’t say it over the phone. We both knew we wanted the first time to be said in person. So we said “olive juice” instead of “I love you”. Even now, sometimes we say it.

Some days it’s way more than 10. If we have argued or one of us is grumpy, it is said way more often.

I am glad I married someone who doesn’t mind hearing/saying it so often. It is one of the things that make my marriage such a blessing. I wouldn’t change it for all the tea in China.

Photobucket

I finally got somewhat caught up with editing last night.  So I have a few photos that I decided to try something different on.  I decided to try for some different editing techniques, including *gasp* rounded corners.  Let me know what you think!

Went for a more vintage look.

And then of course, no photo post is complete without a few photos of my Baby Soup.  Baby Soup, the Sock Monkey.

Post-Halloween

One last hug.  A kiss on the cheek.  Leaving my little monkey at the campground with her grandparents and crazy Uncle Rick and Aunt Candy.  The first night away.  A party to go to.  Fun to be had.  Alcohol to drink (first time in over a year).

The Green Fairy (my cousin) and a Gorgon (aka Medusa - pipe cleaner snakes in my hair)

Worth it?  Oh yeah.  Beer Pong, quotes, jokes, Voodoo Doughnuts, jello shots, laughter, party crasher.  The Wolf Pack of One.

A great night.

But I missed this.

I missed this very very much.

No Words on Friday

I thought about posting some more fall photos.  Then thought about expounding on the joys of Halloween and the candy and costumes.  Also thought of describing my Halloween costume for the party tomorrow.  Or maybe discussing the fact that this will be the first time Mr. Soup and I will be going to a Halloween party in our 5 years of being together and how it will also be the first evening we spend away from Baby Soup.

But I couldn’t get it to form into an actual post.

So since words are failing me today, I give you a story in pictures:

Have a fantastic and safe Halloween!  I expect to come back to see lots of pictures of costumes.  I will be sharing ours on Monday as well!

You Capture – Autumn

Photobucket

My favorite seasons are the transitional ones.  The ones of change.  Spring and Autumn.  With Spring, new life is coming.  Blossoms emerge, flowers bloom and the sun starts coming out more.  With autumn, that process is reversed, but still glorious.

Trees start to morph from their natural greens to other colors. It seeps into them, morphing into some sort of alien hybrid.

Bright colors pop up amongst the deep emerald greens of the evergreens.

Spots of color contrast against the otherwise boring gravel roads home.

Flames arrive to shine against the occasional blue clear sky.

Rains come more often, coating everything in dew drops throughout the day.

But the sunrises. Oh the glorious fiery sunrises.  They come earlier and mean there is more darkness during the day, but it is so worth it!

Oregon, I love you.

All photographs taken with my iPhone and are straight out of camera. Errr, phone. Whatever.

A Geek is Made

During one of the last beautiful days before the joy known as the Oregon Fall came (also known as: torrential downpours), we had a picnic in a park.  It was so much fun.  We had loads of food to make sandwiches, chips, cookies, doughnut holes and soda.

Baby Soup discovered the joys known as Mountain Dew.  (Before you call CPS, no, she didn’t drink any.)

So tell me, parents/siblings/caretakers.  What is the worst food your child has eaten or you have seen given to a child?

Black Thumb

After reading Aunt Becky’s blog post today, I made a comment to her about how envious I was of her ability to grow plants.  There may, or may not, have been some mention of how I was completely rearranging my Facebook farm to include the new Dairy Farm and to make it prettier.  That is neither here nor there though.

Here is the honest truth.

I have a pair of black thumbs.  Black as they can get.  I look at plants and they die.

I’ve killed the un-killable.  Cacti, tomato plants, ferns.  You name it, I’ve most likely killed it.

Including a plastic plant.

Yup.

I’ve killed something that wasn’t even alive.

You know those great big fake plants they have?

Don’t leave them next to a base board heater.

I’m just saying.  Because you may, or may not, come home from a long day at work to realize that your plant had melted.  To the wall.

Oh look!

Cute baby!

Once again, I have failed with the editing….I have these great ideas and then run out of time.  *sigh*  I don’t know how you all do it!

So, here is an oldy but goodie.
