I’m going to be cheating a bit today. This is a redo from one of the first posts I wrote. It is just as true today as it was back in March. On this dreary weather Friday, I thought it would be nice to remind everyone to say “I love you”.

The other day I read an article about how to keep your marriage alive after having a baby. One of the recommendations was to make sure to say “I love you” at least once a day, this got me thinking. Mr. Soup and I say “I love you” at least 10 times a day. Sometimes it’s said laughingly after one of us does something stupid (usually me). Sometimes it’s said wistfully over the phone when making a call during my lunch break. And sometimes it’s used as an excuse for when we make eye contact randomly. Even when we are somewhere we can’t speak, we can still say it. When holding hands or touching somehow, three taps means “I love you”, then four taps from the next person to say “I love you too”. Another three for “forever” and then a last three for “and always”. I can’t wait to be able to do it with my daughter as well.
Our relationship has always needed important communication for saying “I love you”. When we were first dating, we lived far from each other. We also hadn’t seen each others since we started dating. So we didn’t say it over the phone. We both knew we wanted the first time to be said in person. So we said “olive juice” instead of “I love you”. Even now, sometimes we say it.
Some days it’s way more than 10. If we have argued or one of us is grumpy, it is said way more often.
I am glad I married someone who doesn’t mind hearing/saying it so often. It is one of the things that make my marriage such a blessing. I wouldn’t change it for all the tea in China.

Awww…you two share a very sweet relationship! My husband and I also say it often. He travels a lot, so it helps. And I try to always make sure I say it with meaning, not just a flippant, habitual “I love you.” It’s something that needs to be said and felt to keep a relationship strong.
Yes, exactly. You have to mean it when you say it, or it becomes only words. I agree, it is something that helps keep a relationship strong and whole.
I {heart} your family.
You three are very sweet together.
Awwww, thank you!
What a brilliant post! I think it should be said often as well. Life is too short not to say it!
Yes, exactly! And I say it to…well, pretty much anyone. There is a lot of love in my heart…
We are also a family full of verbal affirmation…. Some people think that when it is over stated it loses its meaning. I can honestly say that I still get love sick everytime he says it… not to mention when the boys do!
Yes, exactly! It’s something that, no matter how often it is said, if it is said with meaning, every time it is beautiful.
